Smalltown

Smalltown formed in southern Sweden sometime around 2000. All members had previously been in other bands such as promising Swedish hardcore act Forced Into, but the desire to go in a different musical direction brought them together. The common denominator was a love for The Clash, Stiff little fingers and the Jam. But, having being teenagers during the early nineties, the american sounds from bands like Bad religion, Green Day and others were to be an influence as well. The idea was, and is, to make music firmly rooted in late 70Õs punk, mod and powerpop, without being a retro band. And from the reactions in reviews and elsewhere, it seems it is a good idea.

Smalltown released a bunch of singles in different places before Canadian label Deranged records (Career suicide, Leatherface, Fucked upÉ) decided to join forces with JapanÕs Snuffy smile records to release the debut album ÒThe musicÓ in 2004. The record was widely acclaimed. Some excerpts from different reviews:

After the release of ÒThe MusicÓ Smalltown toured Europe, Japan twice, The US and Scandinavia.

In 2008 the time has finally come to release the follow-up. The record is titled ÒImplosionÓ and will be released by Deranged records in North america, and by Combat rock industries in Europe. It features 11 new songs that carries on where ÒThe MusicÓ left off, but is also touching on new areas with expanded instrumentation, and a more varied sound.
